We are looking for experienced Regional Business Directors (RBD’s) to support the launch of givosiran. Givosiran is currently in late-stage development for the treatment of several Acute Hepatic Porphyria (AHP) - an ultra-rare disease. Acute Hepatic Porphyrias represent a sub-group of Porphyrias, characterized by the occurrence of neuro-visceral attacks with or without cutaneous manifestations. Acute Hepatic Porphyrias encompass four disorders: acute intermittent porphyria (the most common), variegate porphyria, hereditary coproporphyria, and a genetic deficit of delta-aminolaevulinic acid dehydratase (extremely rare). The RBD will be principally responsible for leading a team of six Business Account Executives (BAE’s) within their region and other field-based personnel in the execution of disease awareness and patient identification activities. There is a fantastic opportunity to educate and build the market’s knowledge of AHP.

The RBD will be critical in the evaluation and improvement of field and selling processes. RBD’s will also need to influence commercial strategy, given their proximity to the market, and ultimately meet and exceed performance targets. The position reports into the VP of US Business for givosrian.

Summary Of Key Responsibilities

  • Strong sales management abilities, strategic planning skills, financial acumen, and analytical skills. He/She must be skilled in the areas of communication, organizational management, and negotiation.

  • Ability to manage talent (selection and development of field personnel) and have knowledge in incentive compensation processes. Candidate must demonstrate ability to work in a networked organization.

  • Highly developed business acumen with the ability to use knowledge of the industry and marketplace to formulate strategies that identify long-term benefits for customers and evaluate decisions by taking into account the interests of the entire organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive the achievement of business goals through aligning people, process, structure, information and communication systems.

  • Ability to ensure that talent pipelines are proactively managed to ensure Alnylam’s leadership needs for the future.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across disciplines to align sales execution to product strategies.

  • Ability to inspire and motivate others by helping the broader sales organization understand Alnylam’s strategy and future.

  • Skills initiating ways to improve performance by developing novel approaches.

  • Ability to shape and implement change efforts.

  • Experience training and managing BAE’s to effectively manage local business (including business planning; cross-functional, field-based alignment).

  • Act as a conduit for relevant market information from local field-based employees to home office management, as well as appropriate recommendations.

  • Aptitude aligning with and championing core brand strategies with field teams.

  • Understanding in allocating and managing resources (local activities and funding) to maximize ROI (patients, physicians, sales).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required: science focus strongly preferred; MBA/PhD is a plus

  • 7+ years in sales, marketing, commercial operations, and/or account management experience in commercial healthcare organizations (i.e., Biotech, Med Device or Specialty Pharmaceuticals)

  • 3+ years of experience in leading teams

  • Rare/orphan disease experience required; ultra-rare experience strongly preferred

  • US product launch experience required

  • Buy & Bill, Misc J code product launch experience required

  • In-depth reimbursement knowledge & expertise of Part B & D, working with a robust case management team required

  • Hospital / Institution knowledge and expertise with the P&T process

  • Hematology, Hepatology, Neurology, Gastro, Ob/Gyn, ER/Hospital knowledge & experience strongly preferred

  • Knowledge & experience with “site-of-care” development

  • Experience in working in various departments, managing multiple teams (sales, marketing, market access, patient services)

  • Demonstrated leadership in working in a matrix environment and influencing management decisions

  • Effective planning, prioritization, management, and organizational skills

  • Significant domestic/regional travel is required (approximately 60 – 70%)

  • Valid Driver’s license required
