Senior Director, Global Brand Lead

SAGE Therapeutics is searching for a creative, resourceful, integrative thinker for an important role that is accountable for developing and aligning global strategy and launch plans in major depressive disorder (MDD) for SAGE-217. This person will provide positive leadership and productive influence across the organization to develop and execute global strategies. They will lead the Global Brand Team, develop integrated strategy for the asset, align resource allocation across geographies, drive launch readiness across key markets, and contribute to development plans with the Program Lead/Program Team.
Roles And Responsibilities
Lead development of an integrated brand strategy for SAGE-217 inclusive of prioritized opportunities and customers, associated beliefs and behavior shifts, strategic imperatives and investment strategies. Develop of a comprehensive set of strategic options based upon marketplace and competitor events which will ensure commercial success for SAGE-217 in MDD. Must ensure cross-functional input, alignment and vetting of these strategic options
Develop and align revenue forecast assumptions across Sage stakeholders for the asset in support of long-range planning process. Identify, quantify, and proactively monitor key risks and opportunities
Provide input to value positioning and pricing strategy, in cooperation with Market Access and HEOR
Ensure a compelling Phase IV investment plan is developed to enhance the product profile, strengthen brand differentiation and provide incremental promotional claims
Ensure clear cross-functional plans and investment strategy for key internal stakeholders and markets, when developed, are aligned to brand strategy
Develop branding elements such as name, positioning, and brand messaging to maximize differentiation for SAGE-217
Develop and evolve integrated communications platform in support of SAGE-217 for the asset and disease state
Identify and align the right customer model for Sage to maximize the value of the asset across markets
Engage, lead and partner with all members of the launch readiness team to ensure launch readiness and develop/evolve Integrated Launch Plans
Act as a key member of Program Team, providing commercial leadership to program level discussions
Experience, Education And Specialized Knowledge And Skills
Must thrive working in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient. Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to develop important relationships with key stakeholders, exceptional conflict management and negotiation skills, ability to analyze complex issues to develop relevant and practical plans, programs and recommendations. Demonstrated ability to develop successful strategies in an integrated fashion engaging cross-functional leadership. Excellent analytical skills and an ability to communicate complex issues in a simple way. Must be able to proactively identify and resolve issues and mitigate material risks.
University degree required: advanced business degree preferred
Minimum 10-15 years' professional experience in biotech/pharma industry, preferably in multiple geographies, with a mix of in line/country and global marketing.
A minimum of 3 years in marketing at global or regional level and 5+ years market-facing commercial experience (in-line product marketing and/or sales experience). Ideal candidate brings experience from US and ex-US in line marketing with operational P&L management experience in addition to strategy and launch experience
Extensive exposure to multi-country product launch and pre-launch activities and issues and working effectively in a Global/Regional/Local model
Demonstration of capacity for strategic thinking plus strong analysis skills and a creative/innovative approach to problem solving. Proven ability to work cross-functionally and cross-regionally.
Experience in influencing product development, health economics and multi-country pricing.
Demonstrated ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships and external customer relationships; proven leadership skills and experience in managing teams while also having experience in a program management model
Strategic awareness, visioning (capability to take a broad and long-range perspective and to build a compelling vision), analysis and scenario planning, forecasting
Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills and previous experience influencing across a scientifically-driven organization with strong R&D colleagues
