Under the direction of the Director, HCP Marketing, the Product Manager – HCP Marketing is responsible for the development and implementation of marketing plans, product and program launches and events, as well as managing specific projects in support of brand management. The role works closely with other members of the Marketing team, the field sales team and multiple other internal functions, and is also responsible for supporting various key projects. Will work closely with vendors, supporting project management and alignment of deliverables to project strategy.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Manage promotional material portfolio and develop creative and well-communicated materials to support brand initiatives.

  • Support the implementation of product and program launch plans (including training materials, presentation development and delivery).

  • Aid in the development positioning and messaging, branding and educational platform messaging for HCP and audiences.

  • Close field interaction to pull through and execute strategic brand initiatives and tactics.

  • Develop area-specific promotional and service-oriented content for HCP and/or consumer channels.

  • Lead development and analytics of specific digital and print tactics for professional audience.

  • Ensure effective, brand aligned content is developed across HCP end to end customer journey at the points of decision making

  • Working with the Director, HCP Marketing, aid in the development of the brand strategy for the brand.

  • Partner with Business Analytics & Insights to leverage HCP and patient insights (unmet needs) in the development of meaningful digital and print materials.

  • Lead development of SEO, ECRM, and multiple digital channels.

  • Assist in the development, deployment and support of sales training materials.

  • Build consensus by involving others in decisions that impact them; handle controversial issues responsibly.

  • Assist in content creation of consumer educational materials.

  • Assist in developing advertisement messaging and media buy schedule, direct-mail campaigns, and other marketing materials.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of key programs such as Patient Education Seminars, Physician Co-Marketing, Patient Educator Program, etc.

  • Support the development, launch and execution of HCP campaigns to drive product awareness.

  • Coordinate events supporting key brand strategies and marketing campaigns.

  • May manage budget and expenses as assigned, ensuring that resources are utilized effectively and efficiently.

  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-indication team members to ensure efforts across indications are aligned within markets and across customer groups.

  • May manage relevant vendor, agency and consultant resources and their work product and timelines, ensuring responsible and impactful use of funds.

  • Track and monitor all program/tactic targets to drive measurable results as compared with spend (ROI).

  • Ensure understanding of and adherence to all relevant internal and external policies or guidelines related to the team’s activities and deliverables.

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Location: Alder’s headquarters office in Bothell, Washington


  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, scientific or related field; advanced degree or MBA preferred.

  • 5+ of commercial experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or healthcare industry is required.

  • 3+ years of HCP marketing experience is preferred; 2+ of field Sales experience is preferred.

  • Experience in new launch indications is preferred.

  • Demonstrated analytical skills. Ability to understand drivers of performance, synthesize and accurately draw conclusions from data and apply results of market research to inform decision making.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the drug development, regulatory review and commercialization processes for specialized products is required.

  • Experience in marketing strategy and tactic design with an ability to communicate ideas to internal partners and external agencies.

  • Experience in successfully representing the commercial perspective during the regulatory/legal review of launch promotional materials.

  • General knowledge of internet marketing, SEO, pay-per click advertising, social media, digital applications and web analytics

  • Digital marketing to HCP and/or patients experience, with a proven track record of developing digital programs that deliver against strategy.

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, analysis, technical and decision-making skills.

  • Demonstrated a passion for innovative thinking with a meticulous eye for detail.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and proven ability to work and influence as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and keep projects on track to meet deadlines.

  • Able to work independently, with minimal direction.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, highly collaborative, strong influencing skills, and ability to build effective working relationships in a matrix environment.

  • Project management experience with proven ability to handle and lead multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Experience influencing without direct authority across cross-functional teams, working effectively in complex situations.

  • Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills; able to communicate in a concise, engaging and convincing manner, including to an executive level audience.

  • Travel requirement: Up to 25% including overnight stays.
