Vice President, Market Access
Location: San Diego, CA, US
The Vice President, Market Access reports directly to the Chief Commercial Officer and will act as the overall patient market access strategic leader for Neurocrine. In addition, this individual will be responsible for development of our company strategy and execution of managed care payor and pricing strategies, sharing of institutional customer insights, and implementation of key initiatives to support our marketed product INGREZZA® (valbenazine) as well as pipeline products.
Your Contributions (include, But Are Not Limited To)
Create value platforms for private and government payors globally in partnership with Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, HEOR and commercial colleagues
Recommend and support pricing strategies; lead Pricing Committee, government price reporting, contracting and rebate processing functions
Staff, manage and develop the market access team, including the field-based payor accounts and channel trade executives, field reimbursement team, in-house payor marketing and patient HUB services;
Bring an understanding of the payor perspective to product teams to ensure that payor requirements are adequately addressed through health outcomes evidence generation and commercial strategy development in a timely and accurate fashion;
Provide expert view on the US healthcare pricing and reimbursement system, the evolving public policy environment and patient access landscapes to inform corporate strategy and long-range planning;
Build high-value relationships with managed care partners to educate and ensure Neurocrine product value propositions and long-term strategies are understood and aligned with their evolving needs;
Together with Finance, model and update gross-to net estimates;
Provide input into product revenue and manufacturing forecasts;
Develop and lead patient affordability and other support programs;
Oversee and develop government price reporting, contract administration, and rebate and chargeback administration;
Ensures all market access strategic plans and tactical initiatives comply with Neurocrine policies, industry guidelines, and all applicable state and federal laws;
Develop and manage departmental budget
Actively participate as senior commercial team member.
BS/BA in a related field, MBA highly preferred;
A minimum of 15 years of progressively increasing responsibility within managed markets, sales/payor account management, pricing/contracting, trade channel and/or brand marketing-related experience in pharma/biotech industry is required, including at least 5 years in senior leadership roles;
Significant experience in developing, implementing and executing strategies that create favorable market access for pharmaceutical products, in payor marketing and/or sales roles
Prior market access experience launching specialty drugs required; experience in rare/orphan diseases and/or gene therapies highly preferred;
Detailed understanding of dynamics of Medicare and state Medicaid programs required; experience planning and launching in ex-US markets preferred;
Experience in Psychiatric and/or Neurologic therapeutic areas is preferred;
Ability to travel extensively as position requires;
Exceptional leadership and interpersonal communication skills;
Demonstrated ability to think strategically, identify key issues/value drivers, and convert these concepts into actionable tactical plans;
Strong working knowledge of the evolving US healthcare public policy, payor and trade environments;
Strong executive influence skills using various methods (i.e., presentations, meeting facilitation, networking events, etc.); and
Expert ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and throughout all levels of the organization.
