Associate Director, Patient Marketing, beta Thalassemia

Join bluebird bio’s enthusiastic and collaborative team to launch bluebird’s first gene therapy in the US for patients with beta thalassemia, a rare blood disorder. Reporting to Sr. Director, US Marketing and launch team lead, this role will support the launch and US commercial activities to ensure our gene therapy for beta thalassemia is ready for take-off.
The role works closely with the Global & US Commercial to develop and execute clear, concise and actionable strategic and tactical plans to optimize the US launch and commercial success of bluebird bio’s innovative gene therapy. About The Role
Patient Marketing: In preparation for approval and launch, design, create and execute patient educational/promotional materials for successful US launch
Lead the development of core messaging to create educational and promotional materials for patients to support understanding of our gene therapy option for transfusion dependent thalassemia
Build and execute strategy and content for patient and digital (including e-marketing and social media) channels and manage external agencies in this effort.
Customize US patient-specific disease state awareness strategy and execution, aligning to ensure promotional and non-promotional efforts are complementary
Develop strategy and plan for development of patient brand advocates
Build relationships with US patient advocacy groups
Liaise with market research team to provide patient insights into launch efforts as it relates to the US market landscape for beta thalassemia
Manage agency partners and shepherd disease awareness and promotional materials through the medical, regulatory, legal review process and integrate feedback accordingly to ensure compliant execution
Manage timelines, budgets, and resources: includes ensuring timelines, budget, and resources square up to brand strategic and US specific objectives
Bachelors degree in a life science; MBA, or advanced degree, preferred
7 years in the pharmaceutical field (can include market insights, sales, marketing, etc) with 4-5 years experience in a US marketing role, preferably in rare disease
At least 2 years of US patient marketing experience and digital execution experience
Must be able to see and communicate the big picture from lots of data and information
Experience in high science, competitive market required.
US product launch experience preferred
Strong organizational and project management skills, demonstrated ability to successfully drive a project to completion in fast paced environment
Solutions-oriented, strong analytical and presentation skills
