Executive Director, Thought Leader Liaison Team, US Neurology Business Unit

Job Description:

The Executive Director Thought Leader Liaison Team - US Neurology BU is a leadership position within the US commercial organization that will focus on achieving the Neurology TLL strategic plan that includes key account development and promotional speaker training and development. The position reports to the VP, US Neurology Business Unit Lead and is a key member of the US Neurology Leadership Team.

Job Duties & Responsibilities


  • Hire, develop and lead a high-performing TLL team in achieving key objectives, including:

    • Promotional physician speaker identification, development, and management

    • Physician on-label education

    • Key account development.

  • Drive strong collaboration and partnership with commercial leadership team, including Regional Sales Directors, Marketing, and Market Access to effectively execute overall commercial plan

  • Partner with RSDs to identify key accounts and support TLLs executing account development plans

  • Partner compliantly and ethically with MSL leadership when engaging top key opinion leaders

Strategy & Execution

  • Member of US Neurology leadership team responsible for building strategic and tactical plans

  • Build TLL national business plan and support developing regional business plans

  • Partner with Marketing leads to advise on development and implementation of speaker presentations

  • Provide leadership on TLL management/strategy at regional and national Congresses

Compliance & Integrity: Works with the highest degree of professionalism and in accordance with the company’s code of Ethics and Business Conduct

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field

  • 10 plus years’ work experience in biotech; including a minimum of 3 years leading Regional or National teams in the US market

  • Experience in field sales leadership and/or product marketing leadership

  • Strong in-depth clinical, technical and scientific knowledge in complex disease state.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully achieving results through effective collaboration and x-functional partnership and alignment.

  • History of exhibiting the highest standards of ethics and integrity, and delivering on commitments

  • Proven track record of delivering results that meet or exceed targets and objectives

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and organizational abilities

  • Location and Travel requirements: Willing to travel >50% of the time including significant overnight and weekend travel. Location can be Field based or be based in Boston, MA Alexion Headquarters

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate degree (MSc, PhD, MBA)

  • Prior experience and relationships within the Neurology area
