Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Multiple Positions

Job Description:


In this newly created position reporting to our Director, Medical Science Liaisons, Medical Affairs, you will serve as a key scientific resource for clinicians, scientists, and advocacy groups. You’ll work collaboratively to develop, align, and implement thought leader strategies, plans, and communications, ensuring that information shared is timely, accurate, and fair-balanced. You’ll provide scientific support for pre-clinical and clinical research, as well as other related duties, as we build our Medical Affairs team in preparation for our first commercial launch.


  • Establish and develop professional relationships with external experts engaged in the diagnosis, treatment, care, and research of patients with diseases involving mitochondrial dysfunction, including different genetic mutations that can cause mitochondrial disease

  • Expand research, advisory, and educational partnership opportunities • Provide scientific support for publications and presentations

  • Provide scientific support at conferences

  • Manage the investigator-sponsored study request process

  • Run scientific advisory boards

  • Develop and maintain scientific, clinical, and therapeutic expertise

  • Ensure thoughtful exchange of current scientific and medical information

  • Provide educational and scientific support to external experts as needed

  • Provide effective clinical presentations to internal and external audiences, tailoring presentations to meet specific audience needs

  • Provide field support for on-going clinical trials and assist in identifying new research sites


  • Experience in the disciplines of Neurology or Rare Diseases is preferred; Ophthalmology is a plus

  • Excellent interpersonal communication, presentation and project management skills

  • Ability to clearly communicate complex information to colleagues and health care decision makers

  • Ability to gain insights from clinical and scientific experts

  • Strong scientific and clinical acumen

  • Ability to nimbly “flex” between strategy and operational execution • Team player with strong collaboration skills


  • Advanced clinical or scientific degree (PharmD, PhD, DO, or MD)

  • 5+ years MSL experience in biotech/pharma; rare disease or neurology background preferred

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 60% overnight at times for this field-based role

  • Complete required training, documentation, expense reporting, and other administrative tasks

  • Conduct business activities in accordance with corporate policy and state/federal law
